Pool and Concrete Removal on the Gold Coast
Not every demolition job involves a whole house. Tired pools, cracked driveways, old sheds and failing retaining walls all need the same machines, the same access planning and the same tipper trucks. Send through a few photos and we will pass your job on to a local contractor.
- Small machines for tight side access
- Backfilled to suit what is planned next
- Concrete recycled where possible
Removing an old pool
Pools that are no longer used take up space and cost money to run. Removal normally involves draining the pool, breaking up the shell, removing or perforating it so water can escape, and backfilling with suitable material in compacted layers. If you plan to build over the area later, tell the contractor. Fill that suits a lawn is not always suitable under a structure, and an engineer may need to be involved.
Check with your certifier whether your pool removal needs approval, and find out what happens to the safety barrier if the pool stays in place during the work.
Slabs, driveways and paths
Concrete is priced mostly on thickness, reinforcement, access and how far it has to travel. Heavily reinforced slabs take longer to break. A photo with something for scale, plus a rough measurement, will get you a useful early figure. Clean concrete can usually be recycled, which helps keep the disposal cost down.
Sheds, carports and retaining walls
Older sheds and garages should be checked for fibro before anyone touches them. Retaining walls need more thought than they appear to, because a wall may be holding up a neighbour's fence or the ground beneath it. Have the contractor look at what the wall is supporting before you agree to remove it.
Getting machines into the backyard
Gold Coast backyards can be tight, and side access of a metre or so is common. Small excavators and skid steers fit where trucks cannot, but they can only move so much so quickly. Measure your narrowest gate and include it in your enquiry.
Pool and Concrete Removal: common questions
Can a pool just be filled in?
Filling without properly breaking up the shell can leave drainage and ground problems. Ask the contractor how the shell will be treated, and tell them what you plan to do with the area.
